I have been a studying practitioner of photography for over 30 years and have been photographing weddings and portraits for over 6 years.  I am constantly learning and developing new techniques and skills. I have learnt from some of the top photographers, Brett Harkness, Karl Taylor and Damien Lovegrove to name a few. Over the past 8 years I have also ran many workshops and field-trips teaching the art of photography.  I have an A-Level in Photography, City & Guilds 'Professional Wedding & Portrait Photography' and have also been awarded my photographic distinction, the LRPS, with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS). I have also gained International Awards for my photography and have had numerous images published in international magazines. I am also a member of the internationally renowned Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

I have always been amazed by how well executed photography can capture the essence of life and its emotions. It is true to say that unless the photographer is actually in tune with the emotions of the scene (the moment) then a photographer's work will lack the most vital ingredient of all - connectivity. What makes a good photographer is not the camera but them as a whole; it is the person in their entirety that makes a good photographer the camera only captures their emotional vision and interpretation.

When it comes to wedding photography there are two principal approaches that are recognized today: Traditional and Photojournalistic. Traditional wedding photography provides for the more classically posed images which involves a great deal of photographer control and interaction on the day of the wedding. Photojournalistic wedding photography takes its cue from editorial reporting styles and focuses more on candid images with little photographer interaction. This type of photography captures the true emotions and stories of the day. Although these are two extremes, many of today’s newly trained photographers fall in the middle of these two styles of which I am one.

Photography for me is about ‘connection’. The measure of my success is when you, my client, sits down in the future to look at their wedding or portrait images and once again feel emotionally connected to that special day in their lives.
